Who we are
RentZero is a rental-only platform operated by RentZero. Owners publish rental spaces and tenants discover properties, save favourites and request visits. For questions about your information, use our privacy contact form or email hello@rentzero.in.
Information we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, phone number, owner or tenant role, and a password stored as a one-way hash.
- Rental listings: property descriptions, category, address, city and locality, rent and deposit, availability, furnishings, amenities and photos supplied by owners.
- Activity you choose to save: favourite properties and visit requests, including their messages, dates and response status.
- Support requests: your name, reply email, topic and message, plus the request’s reference and status.
- Technical information: session tokens and the IP address used for short-term abuse prevention. Our hosting server may also record requests, timestamps and errors for operation and security.
We do not ask for payment-card details, identity documents, your contacts, microphone access or continuous device location. A property’s address is supplied by its owner; it is not collected through background location tracking. Choose photos carefully and avoid including people’s private information.
Why we use it
We use these details to create and authenticate accounts, show listings, apply search filters, keep saved properties, deliver and respond to visit requests, provide support and protect the service against misuse. Where your permission is needed for selected photos or contacting you about a support request, you control that choice.
What other people can see
Signed-in users can see an owner’s name and listing information. Property details include the address. When a tenant sends a visit request, the relevant owner sees the tenant’s name, phone number, message and requested date. Do not include information you do not want to share in a listing or request.
Photo links can be accessed by anyone who has the link. Deleting a photo here cannot remove copies already downloaded by someone else. If an owner supplies an externally hosted photo URL, loading it connects to that image provider, which can receive the requesting device’s IP address.
Service providers and disclosure
Hosting, database and infrastructure providers process information needed to run RentZero. App stores operate under their own privacy policies when you download the app. We do not sell personal information or use advertising or analytics trackers in this website or app. We may disclose information when required by applicable law or necessary to investigate abuse, protect users or respond to a lawful request.
Cookies, saved sessions and security
The contact form uses a temporary security cookie, lasting up to one hour, to protect submissions. The app saves a sign-in session on your device so you can return without signing in each time. Signing out clears that saved session. The account-deletion website uses credentials only for the request and does not save its sign-in token in browser storage.
Passwords are hashed and account operations require authentication. Keep your device and password secure and sign out on a shared device. No online service can guarantee complete security.
Retention and deletion
Account details, listings, favourites and visit requests remain while your account is active. You can remove individual listings or favourites in the app. Use Delete account or Account → Delete account in the app to permanently remove the account, its rental data and support messages matching its email. This completes immediately when the request succeeds; an error means you should retry or contact us.
Uploaded photos used only by the deleted account, including tracked unattached photos, are removed. A photo still referenced by another active owner’s listing may remain for that listing. External image hosts and copies held by other users are outside our control. Unattached photos uploaded before photo ownership tracking may require manual cleanup; contact us if a photo remains accessible.
Support messages are kept while a request is open and for up to 90 days after it is resolved. You can request earlier removal through the privacy contact form. Requests to delete only selected information or cases where you cannot sign in require ownership verification.
We do not keep a separate archive of deleted accounts or retained account backups.
The app’s short-term IP-based abuse counters expire after one minute of activity. Any hosting security records retained outside the account database are used for service security, not to recreate a deleted account. Contact us for information about a specific record.
Your choices
You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information using the privacy contact form. We may ask for information needed to verify that the account is yours. Do not send your password or identity documents through the form. You may have additional rights under the laws that apply to you.
Age and policy updates
RentZero is intended for adults aged 18 or older. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it. We will update this page when our practices change and show the revised date above.
